An edict issued by Stalin in early 1941 to start fires of any sort to hinder the German advance. Due to this plan not only were many lives killed but when German camps went up in smoke the Russians were able to locate the Germans because the Germans camp were made usually out of cloth or whatever they could find. So when the camp went up in smoke the Russians tracked where the highest smoke in the sky was and would go and finish them off. The Russian's would also use this so that when they knew the German force were advancing on them they would start a fire so they could regroup into a larger force.
Total Warfare

Stalin's tactic to use as many troops as available. Total Warfare also includes the tactic for if you retreat you will be shot. Using minimal numbers of rifles was a rule that many companies followed it was basically if your ally gets killed you pick up the rifle and shoot. Stalin treated his people brutally and history has kind of covered it up. Slash and Burn was also used so that the Germans could not eat the civilians food. The method of yelling Ura ! Was used to frighten the enemy and catch them off guard, this also made the enemy believe there were many more of the Russians than there actually were.
